It's surprisingly free of crowds most of the time and rich in historical treasures - and one of the safest swimming areas in the country. One visit and you're hooked for life.

Accommodations: Take your pick between affordable hotels, motels, oceanfront condos, resorts, inns and B&B's.  New Smyrna Local Activities: An endless supply of water activities including water skiing, jet skiing, scuba diving and the best surfing in the area. Bringing your guy? The backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon are a favorite of anglers. If you're part of the "Ladies that Lunch" crowd, get your retail therapy in at the cute boutiques on Canal Street and Flagler Ave.

New Smyrna Nightlife: A mixed menu of bars, nightclubs and tiki bars make for an exciting night on the town with your girlfriends. New Smyrna Weather: Summertime temperatures can reach well into the 90'sF. Winter weathers are milder with highs reaching 70F and lows dipping to 40F.

New Smyrna Facilities: Lifeguards, restrooms, showers and picnic tables.  Beach Fees: There's a $5 fee to park on the beach daily. Residents of Volusia County can purchase a season's pass for $30 while non-residents can purchase one for $40. There is also a small entrance fee into the beach.
