Top Holiday Destinations 2010Even  Forks - not exactly a must-see landmark until recently – is drawing them in. The Washington State town is the setting of the sell-out Twilight vampire novels and quickly becoming a teen travel destination.

Backpackers' favourite  Sri Lanka just made the top of the The New York Times “31 Places To Go in 2010” list. As the island enters a more peaceful era, its welcoming people, natural beauty.

And pristine beaches are tempting British tourists to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to more distant shores. With a feeling of peace and safety starting to prevail, visitors are opting for.

A variety of holidays, from surfing or hiking to yoga and spa breaks. Sri Lanka's tourist figures have risen by 28% in one year, according to the Pacific Asia Travel Association. Volunteering and “chadventures”(adventure holidays to raise money for charity) will also be popular as people look for greener, more meaningful holiday experiences.

Mexico and  Thailand are on the “hot list”, too, and closer to home Turkey, Morocco and Egypt (the “accessible-exotic” threesome) will appeal to British tourists keen to watch the pound in their pocket and enjoy the climate, culture and affordable luxury that they offer.
