Thailand is proving to be a popular destination for gap year travellers as it has been revealed that many people ventured to the country over the Easter period.
Jemma Purvis, a spokesperson for travel operator Kuoni, said that this resurgence is down to the number of sights and activities that Thailand has to offer.
She was speaking in response to research conducted by Sainsbury’s Travel Money bureaux, which showed that a lot of Britons purchased
Thai currency in the last month. Pursuits such as trekking and cooking have kept holidaymakers coming back to the country despite recent political unrest in Bangkok, she explained.
Ms Purvis advised visitors to venture north to Chiang Mai to ride elephants and to experience the floating markets and the Grand Palace in the capital. The Sainsbury’s Travel Money bureaux found that vacations to Thailand and the United Arab Emirates were the most popular holidays over the Easter break.
