Carlson Hotels, one of the world's leading hotel companies, announced the signing of its 14th Park Plaza property in Asia Pacific and the first in Chengdu. The agreement to develop the Park Plaza hotel was signed today in Beijing between Hubert Joly, Carlson president, CEO and director, and John Hui, co-chairman, Century Hua Fu (Chengdu) Investment Management Co., Ltd., the hotel owner.
"This signing signals another step forward in continuing Carlson Hotels' expansion in Asia Pacific. It also supports Carlson Hotels' Ambition 2015 growth strategy to expand our portfolio by at least 50 percent by 2015 to more than 1,500 hotels in operation," said Joly. "Given the growing number of domestic and international travellers to China on business and leisure, this signing is aligned with our ambition to be a leader in Asia's key growth markets.
The Park Plaza Chengdu South is the first of four hotel management agreements being signed by Carlson Hotels in China this week.
Chengdu is the main commercial, manufacturing and IT hub for southwest China. When the 254-room Park Plaza Chengdu South hotel opens at the end of this year, it will be a landmark property, capturing the essence and energy of Chengdu city and delivering Park Plaza's renowned smart, spirited service.

Guests can enjoy local and international cuisine at the all-day dining restaurant which will also comprise exclusive, private Chinese-style dining rooms, up to five meeting rooms, a lobby lounge and bar, business centre and a fully equipped fitness centre.
Park Plaza Chengdu South is a five minute drive from Chengdu International Airport, the most important air hub in central west China, and a short 10 minute drive to the city centre.
